Privacy notice

The short version: we collect what you type into the enquiry form, we email it to ourselves, and we use it to plan your trip. That is all.
TODO: this notice must be reviewed by a South African attorney against the Protection of Personal Information Act, and against the UK GDPR and EU GDPR before launch, since a large share of enquirers will be British and European data subjects. The text below is a working draft that describes what the site actually does; it is not legal advice.
Who we are
Cape Compass Travel (Pty) Ltd, registered in South Africa, of TODO registered address. The information officer for the purposes of POPIA is TODO name, who can be reached at TODO email address.
What we collect
Only what you give us. Through the enquiry form that is: the destinations you select, your approximate travel dates and trip length, the number of adults and children in your party and the children's ages, a budget band, your name, email address, country, a telephone number if you choose to give one, and anything you write in the free-text field.
We also collect a hidden timestamp recording how long the form took to complete. This exists solely to reject automated spam submissions and is discarded on receipt.
What we do not collect
We do not use analytics, advertising pixels, session recording or third-party cookies on this website. We do not set any cookie at all. Nothing you enter into the enquiry form is ever placed in a web address, so your answers do not appear in browser history, in server logs or in any referrer header.
How your enquiry reaches us
The form is submitted directly from your browser to Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, which forwards it to our email address and does not retain a copy beyond what is necessary to deliver it. Their own privacy terms apply to that transit.
What we use it for
To reply to your enquiry, to design an itinerary, and, if you go on to travel with us, to make the bookings your trip requires. Making those bookings means passing relevant details to hotels, lodges, airlines and licensed activity operators. We pass on only what each supplier needs.
What we will not do
We will not add you to a mailing list without your asking. We will not sell, rent or share your details for marketing. We will not use your enquiry for any purpose other than answering it and, if it goes ahead, running your trip.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted after twenty-four months. Booking records are kept for TODO period to meet South African tax and insurance requirements.
Your rights
You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will act within thirty days. Write to TODO email address.
Children
This website is not directed at children. Where you give us the ages of children in your party, we are relying on you as their parent or guardian to provide that information, and we use it solely to plan the trip safely.
